AHA's Cyberattack Response
After the largest cyber incident to the U.S. health care system - the AHA stepped into action!
In February 2024 there was a ransomware cyberattack at UnitedHealth Group's Change Healthcare that disrupted hospital networks nationwide. The AHA's Cybersecurity & Risk Advisory Services responded immediately with alerting hospital members, patients, federal health organizations, national authorities, congress, and media. The AHA supported and surveyed the hospitals affected and reported the data & insights nationwide, including participating in Washington D.C. congressional testimony in April. This advocacy alerted Senate and House committees who held hearings to hold UnitedHealthGroup CEO accountable and encourage legislation to help defend hospitals operations and patient personal data from cyberattacks. I helped create social graphics and flyers with the data about the incident as well as a member direct mail accordion piece outlining the series of events and AHA's response in 2024.
